"This photo was taken at Marrello's Farm in Blewett, BC. The farm is home to horses, chickens, geese, sheep, cows, peacocks, and many more animals. I used to take my photography class here every year to cover the animal category, and the students always enjoyed their visits," says Guenette.

JAS M. MORGAN is a Cree-Métis-Saulteaux curator,

JAS M. MORGAN is a Cree-Métis-Saulteaux curator, editor, writer, SSHRC doctoral scholarship recipient and McGill Art History PhD student. Morgan won the 2019 Dayne Ogilive Prize and has been nominated for a Lambda Literary Award, an Indigenous Voices Literary Award, and several National Magazine Awards.

They were nominated as the lead editor for the summer 2017 issue of Canadian Art in the “Best Editorial Package” category — an issue on the theme of Kinship. Their writing has appeared in The Malahat Review, Room, GUTS, Mice, esse, The Inuit Art Quarterly, Teen Vogue, and other publications. Morgan’s first book nîtisânak was released in 2019. They currently live in Toronto.

In Editor Shashi Bhat's words:

"We're looking for unique photos that catch the eye--on newsstands, on social media, on a coffee table--and we particularly love photos that suggest a theme, a dinstinct mood and/or narrative. Photos should be in landscape format and contain enough negative space for us to include the title, issue number, bar code, call-outs, et-cetera."

Carolyn Smart is the author of six volumes of poet

Carolyn Smart is the author of six volumes of poetry and an award-winning memoir. Two of her poetry collections have been internationally staged as full-length performances. She is the founder of the RBC Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers, poetry editor for the MacLennan Series of McGill-Queen’s University Press, and for 32 years she was Director of Creative Writing at Queen’s University, mentoring generations of emerging authors.

MAŁGOSIA HALLIOP immigrated to Canada from Poland as a child, and has lived in Toronto for more than 25 years. In the past decade, she has been a sometime writer, editor, community organizer, visual artist, wildlife tracker and nature educator while homeschooling two kids. She is currently working to hone her craft as a poet.
